I chose this hood over the $54 canon one for my EF 28-135mm lens, and it was a very good decision. There is no vignetting at any focal length, and it really helps the contrast and crispness of my photos in any lighting. The screw on feature is a cool one, and it can be unscrewed to be turned around for storage. The only problem I have found is with the use of filters. If I use filters on the lens and then put the hood on, there is some slight vignetting. If I put the filters on the end of the hood, it is extremely hard to remove them. The end of the hood is not a thread, but just smooth rim that you push the filters into and it is very tight.

Other than this, this lens is built very well, is very strong, and seems like it will last for a very long time! I suggest it very much, but if you can get the canon one that one might serve you better.
